The Samurai coffee table is a clever feat of kinetic design, featuring a dual-surface arrangement that allows for a customizable layout. The unit is anchored by a solid, circular base from which two sweeping, curved metal blade arms emerge. These arms support two distinct, rounded tops that are offset at different heights. With a gentle push, the two surfaces can pivot outward, expanding the footprint of the table to provide more reach when entertaining. When the extra space isn't needed, the surfaces can be rotated back inward until they overlap, creating a compact and sculptural tiered look.
The Samurai has been designed by Angelo Tomaiuolo and is manufactured by Naos in Italy. Each top is customizable with options for either glass, ceramic, or a combination of both. Angelo TomaiuoloA graduate in Architecture with the highest honors at The University of Florence in 2001, Angelo Tomaiuolo is a creative genius in the world of design. He started collaborating with the talented Matteo Thun & Partners in Milan in 2004 and in 2006, Massimiliano Fuksas entered the creative team, dealing with hotel and resort projects, such as Airport Stuttgart Mövenpick Hotel, NH Hotel in Milan and led the 63rd Venice Film Festival set design for a glamorous feature.
Angelo Tomaiuolo started his architecture studio in 2007 and became successful and respected quickly because of his unique approach of discovering new techniques in contemporary design in terms of environmental sustainability and technological innovation.
