Alfred Kleene & Gabriele AssmannProlific design duo Alfred Keene (b. 1953) and Gabriele Assmann (b. 1959) both hail from Germany, with Keene’s roots embedded in the town of Cloppenburg and Assmann’s in Warendorf. Before Assmann received her degree in design at the University of Münster, Keene got his in interior design at Detmold University of Applied Sciences. He became a qualified interior architect in 1983, and their joint venture came to fruition that same year.
Based in Stuttgart, their studio is a workshop for furniture and product design. They focus on developing modern furniture for the domestic and commercial market and exhibitions and have created numerous patents. Working with leading international manufacturers in the furniture industry has been just a rung on the ladder that led them to become the recipients of several design prizes.
