First introduced in 2009 by German artists Marco Biegert and Andreas Funk, QLOCKTWO reimagines how we experience time. Known for its distinctive word clocks, the brand replaces traditional hands and numerals with illuminated letters, transforming an everyday object into a striking work of contemporary design. QLOCKTWO turns telling time into a poetic reminder to live in the moment, rather than watching the hands of time pass by.

The idea behind QLOCKTWO grew out of a creative partnership that began years before the first clock was introduced. In 1999, Marco Biegert and Andreas Funk established a design and advertising agency in Schwäbisch Gmünd, a German town with a long tradition of goldsmithing and jewelry making. A decade later, their fascination with typography, light, and the passage of time led to the launch of QLOCKTWO.

The distinctive QLOCKTWO wall clock features a matrix of 110 letters that illuminates to spell out time in phrases such as “it is half past seven.” The display changes in five-minute increments, while four illuminated corner dots indicate individual minutes. Without hands or numerals, time becomes a composition of words and light.

Each QLOCKTWO clock is handmade in Germany, with finishes ranging from contemporary metals to gold leaf and patinated surfaces. Selected designs feature precision milled aluminum housings that give the square form a seamless, sculptural appearance.

With more than 40 international design awards, including a Red Dot Award in 2018, QLOCKTWO has earned considerable recognition. In 2020, the brand joined the German Design Council, further establishing its place in contemporary design.
