Ettore Sottsass
Born in 1917 in Innsbruck, Ettore Sottsass is one of the most influential architects and designers in his generation. He graduated from Politecnico di Torino with a degree in architecture and then began experimenting with materials and techniques to hone his craft. In the '70s and '80s, Sottsass joined all of the movements from transforming Italian design from functional to beautiful and bold. He founded the Memphis Group in 1981, which has changed the design field radically.
Sottsass's designs are statement-worthy, making grand impressions in modern settings. His products are bold and colorful, as well as geometrically inspired. His iconic creations have been part of many exhibitions and museums around the world.
