For a couple with three grown children, falling in love with their suburban Philadelphia home all over again was based on their slower-paced lifestyle.  A multi-room renovation combined classical environments that also have a timeless, unfussy formality. The collaboration with room service 360 team encompassed a complete and synchronized styling of their designer formal dining and living room.

A lucky thing, too, as the project turned out to be complex but fun. The clients wanted to keep an open flow while emphasizing the symmetry of the entrance.  Other requirements included elegance, functionality, and vivid color—especially gemstone blues and reds that played a major role in furniture selection.

Dining room

For the formal dining room design, its square shape had to accommodate the couple’s large family. A custom 80” round Eliot dining table filled the square room with proportions. The table’s utility enhanced by a lazy Susan that made family-style serving a breeze. The formal space was complemented by the glitzy Kidal crystal chandeliers and a sculptural Christine mirror. Blue accents incorporated through artwork and a rug with a similar pattern to the beautiful floor tile. Since the room had a square shape and storage was a requirement, a co-planer door buffet was a must-have. The Europa white sideboard offered a space-saving storage solution while complementing the stunning color scheme.

Living room

Directly opposite the formal dining room is an empty space that the couple wanted to turn into a formal living room anchored by their daughter’s piano. The proximity to the dining room made the blue accents an easy choice but also allowed to integrate another vibrant color to make the room more unique. Red was the perfect choice as the couple fell in love with Foscarini’s Twiggy floor lamp in that color. The blue color came to life in the form of a rug, accent chairs, and additional ottomans. The room was centered around Gamma’s plush Aston sofas upholstered in luxurious grey velvet to ensure extra seating spaces when the entire family assembles.
